About Me

Technical Writer working in 3D Simulation (lots of physics, mathematics, and other subjects that I lost interest  or failed when I was in school) by day and a chef wanna-be when I get home and the weekend.

Although I have now lived in Canada for about 15 years, I am still a Kenyan at heart.
I try to integrate Kenyan ingredients and spices to create dishes of something I like to call New Kenyan Cuisine. Aptly pretentious and pseudo-prestigious ... two things I seem to embrace shamelessly.

I have a wonderful and gorgeous daughter who seems to eat almost anything I make. Her latest fave is a smoked salmon sandwich ... but just with the lettuce and nothing else.  Other things she enjoys are sushi, which she is always up for, couscous, pasta (of course), and steak!

I admire many chefs but I do enjoy Marcus Samuelsonn, David Rocco (only because he's hot), and Aussie Donna Hay (such pretty pictures in all her cookbooks). I follow numerous blogs and food sites, but I do keep returning to Honest Cooking, The Bite House (only because it's Canadian), and Alpineberry for the sweets.

Enough about me now ... enjoy the site!
